Expertise: Experience of residential market, freehand drawings
The culture of the business is important to me. We take great pride in our work and every member of the team is valued and recognised as playing a pivotal role in delivery for our clients.
With 35+ years’ experience in the industry and working for residential housebuilders, residential design is in Nick’s DNA. His understanding of the challenges and issues that housebuilders face at the early stage of a project is as a result of the real time, hands-on experience he had working with them in their own environments. His tenacity to get under the skin of a project and develop designs that bring the best return on investment for the developer is second to none.
Nick is expert in producing hand drawn, sketch layouts that respond to site context and client needs. His ability to maximise the development potential of a site utilising a client’s standard house type range is highly regarded within the development industry. His freehand drawings were part of the initial conceptual designs for Bloy St, Bristol, an urban regeneration project involving the sensitive renewal of nineteenth century terraced housing. This was awarded the RIBA “Housing Design Award for Best Residential Urban Regeneration Scheme”.
The business has grown year on year, working with UK housebuilders on large scale residential projects with focus on providing feasibility planning, planning and urban design, technical working drawings and landscape design services. Nick continues to remain at the heart of the business.
In his younger life Nick was an international cyclist and competed for GB. He made a return to cycling and became British National Masters Road Race Champion. Dinghy sailing is also a big passion.
Feasibility and concept design are the initial steps in developing design options for your residential development project. Our feasibility planning service evaluates the commercial potential of a piece of land before creating concepts and architectural design solutions that augment the development potential.
Town Planning is more than just submitting planning applications. Having worked in the residential industry for many years, our experienced and knowledgeable team are well equipped to advise and guide clients through the many facets of the planning process, providing expert advice and guidance throughout.
Key to the delivery of any residential project is the efficient production of clear and concise technical working drawings. We produce fit for purpose and economical technical solutions that comply with all necessary building regulations using the latest Autocad or Revit software.
Landscaping is integral to any successful development. During the early stage of the design process, we identify key landscape features for retention and potential new areas for enhancement. Our experienced in-house landscape architecture team can devise hard and soft landscape schemes that not only perform a function but also add to the aesthetic quality of a development.
From small rural or urban infill sites, to large-scale, brownfield regeneration and greenfield urban extensions; we provide everything from concept and development framework plans to detailed masterplans and parameter plans, based on well-established urban design principles.
Communicating visions and detailed proposals graphically is key in architectural design. We produce strong visual representations of our design proposals to create the best user experience. From 2D plans to 3D axonometric projections and perspective visualisations, we employ various techniques and media such as hand-drawn sketches, digital photo editing and CAD software layout tools.
